Editors Desk

As of issue 9, Fly Angler magazine is going to change its release dates to twice yearly to allow for a greatly expanded format. Fly Angler will now be released in November and May.

This heralds an exciting time as the greatly expanded size will allow us to focus even more on providing excellent editorial content, commissioning more in-depth articles and undertake a series of extended feature articles on a range of interesting and relevant topics.

Our website will also be expanded to make Fly Angler the first truly multimedia fly fishing company in Australia. Regular features, fly tying and videos will be added to the site to provide a more interactive site to visit, keeping you up to date between print issues. We’ll also be able to review and showcase new products as they are made available, and we all like new toys!

With this expansion in magazine size the onsale cover price will increase slightly, but subscription rates will remain the same, adjusted to the new rates.
We’re sure you’ll enjoy the new look mag and website!

Peter also gives an in depth tying sequence that is easy to follow, and throws in a superb weed guard so that you can fish with confidence in dense mangrove cover.

Fly Patterns

Recently added to the online fly patterns is the 'Flatface'. This fly is designed for bottom feeders, and in particular the flathead. It is a fly with plenty of inbuilt movement and a great fly for beginners to get their teeth into. Jon Makim's choice of colours are not by chance, but from proven capture rates. Read it now and get tying.
